This French polished, reproduction Chippendale dining table is ornately carved with rope edge and claw and ball feet. Width 3'10" x length 8'4", height 2'6" with three removable inserts of 12" width. The table extends from 6 to 10 seats. The table is in good condition and has mellowed from original rich red/brown to softer brown. Table inserts vary in colour as they have not been in use as much as the table, one has a watermark. Since the table is usually covered with a cloth the colour variations are not a problem and are part of the features of owning an antique piece which has not been remodeled or repolished. The matching chairs have sprung, dark green, leather seats. The leather covers vary in condition from fair to not good. Some need respringing and recovering would benefit all. Chairs vary from good to fair as several have some fine heat blisters on the backs and some have a little polish flaking. The table and chairs respond beautifully to oil polishing and that is the maintenance they have received. The table setting has a matching buffet shown below. They were bought in Melbourne early last century and had been custom made. The buffet has french polishing inside and out, including the drawers. The cutlery drawers are green baize lined. It is a beautiful setting and the buffet doors have Chinoiserie inspired carved decorations on the doors.

Matching French Polished Buffet
The buffet is beautifully polished inside and out and holds china & glassware on 2 shelves plus side cabinets. Central drawer holds large tablecloths easily, left side drawers hold crockery, right napery and table mats.

The buffet matches the table. They make a most impressive room setting. It is 7' 2" long x 2' 1"width x height 4' 4 1/2". Heavy glass plates cover the flat tops.

The buffet is in very good condition. It has some slight damage to one front door where a small carved feature has come off. It could be replaced. The surface veneer is very slightly damaged in two places on the outside doors and there are some small scratches on the inside .
